Knowledge before intervention.

Geno Research is a foundation dedicated to applied urban and architectural research. We connect academia, professional practice, the public and private sector to produce rigorous, applicable studies that strengthen the quality and impact of interventions.

We believe research should come before design or intervention. Through mixed methods combining qualitative inquiry and quantitative spatial analysis, our work operates at the scale of neighborhoods, districts, urban corridors and territorial systems, producing results that translate directly into guidelines, scenarios and actionable recommendations.

Strategic knowledge for better decisions.

What we do

We generate strategic knowledge and analytical tools that cities need to make better decisions. Our work combines spatial analysis, urban cartography, community qualitative and quantitative data, evidence-based methodologies, and technological tools. We produce diagnostics, research reports and evidence bases, coordinate interdisciplinary teams across architecture, urbanism and the social sciences, and provide strategic advisory for public and private projects.

The team

Geno Research is a multidisciplinary team of architects, urban planners, anthropologists, social scientists, GIS specialists, and development practitioners from across Latin America and the world. We bring together expertise in design, territorial analysis, urban planning, and development processes, working at the intersection of the built environment and social transformation.

The opportunity is already there

Valencia
Barrios Estratégicos project

Barrios Estratégicos is an applied research project on the transformation of intermediate neighborhoods in Latin America. Territories that already have installed infrastructure, good location within the city and real densification capacity, but are not yet making the most of their potential.

Through the analysis of four cases in San Salvador, Valencia, Guayaquil and Córdoba, the project builds a deep understanding of the potential these urban sectors hold and the conditions that enable or constrain it. That potential can be unlocked and channeled through the MORE, a methodology that combines territorial analysis, strategic urban planning and design guidelines to produce quality urban development where it matters most: in the places that already exist.
